The objective was to examine how Islamic ideology is represented in their respective storylines with a view to understanding how Islam is formulated and presented in cinematic culture to viewers. The study used qualitative content analysis method to study the two film industies. One of the key findings is that both Nollywood and Kannywood misrepresent Muslims and Islamic religion in their films. The study recommended that these industries should reflect reality, rather than misrepresentation as well as concentrate more on development related issues in their storylines.
