Representation of the Nigeria Police Force in Bosho Singham
Abstract
The study was designed to determine the representation of the Nigerian Police Force in Bosho Singham. The study used textual analysis to interpret the film scene by scene. The finding showed that the image of the Nigeria Police was portrayed in good light and public confidence restored. Findings further showed that the film addressed negative societal stereotypes associated with the Nigeria
Police Force. The moral lesson from the film is the amplification of the integrity of the Police Force and correcting the societal stereotypes that all police men are corrupt. Based, on the findings, it was recommended among others that film makers (producers and directors) need to be conscious in portraying certain stereotypes in the society. This is crucial because the heterogeneous audience of films may likely hold a negative belief.
