Implications of Digital Technologies for Journalism Practice
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the implications of digital technologies for journalism practice. The researcher employed the library research method which entails the use of books, journals, edited books and online materials to determine the implications of digital technologies for journalism practice. This implies that no form of empirical investigation was done. The key areas of transformation are news production and dissemination, investigative journalism, audience engagement and participation and artificial intelligence and automation. The researcher, therefore, concluded that digital technologies have significantly transformed journalism practice, reshaping news gathering, production and dissemination. These innovations have expanded the reach and efficiency of journalism, enabling real-time reporting, audience interaction and data-driven storytelling. Thus, journalists should undergo regular draining on digital literacy to improve their ability to verify information and combat misinformation.
