Abstract

The researcher explored the insights and applications of machine learning in behavioural change communication, with a focus on enhancing the effectiveness of behavioural change communication initiatives. The study's objectives were to examine the current
applications of machine learning in behavioural change communication, identify the benefits of integrating machine learning technologies into behavioural change communication strategies and determine the challenges and considerations associated
with implementing machine learning in behavioural change communication initiatives. The study was grounded in the social cognitive theory which posits that people learn and adopt new behaviours through observing and imitating others. A library research method
was employed, involving a systematic and comprehensive review of existing literature related to the topic. The findings of the study highlight the potential of machine learning to enhance the effectiveness of behavioural change communication initiatives, while also
emphasising the need for careful consideration of the ethical implications of using machine learning in behavioural change communication. The researcher concluded that machine learning has the potential to revolutionise the practice of behavioural change
communication, but that this potential can only be realised if the ethical implications of using machine learning in behavioural change communication are carefully considered. The researcher recommended that behavioural change communication practitioners, policymakers and technology developers take steps to ensure that machine learning is used in a responsible and effective manner in behavioural change communication initiatives.
