Abstract

With the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its spread globally, there has been lots of preventive measures worldwide to combat it, of which the media has been a veritable tool. The role of the media since the outbreak of the pandemic has been largely felt. This study was aimed at analysing billboard messages on COVID-19 in Benin metropolis of Edo state, Nigeria. The researchers adopted the qualitative method to analyse the texts of select billboard messages. The findings showed that the billboard messages conveyed effective messages on COVID-19 and the messages were written in a language everyone could easily understand. It was recommended that government and all health stakeholders should continue to harness this form of mass media as its highly effective in its reach.
