Abstract

This study sought to investigate the viewership and perceived influence of the reality television show, Big Brother Naija (Season VII) on youth of Benue State, Nigeria. The study was hinged on the social learning and cultivation theories. It employed survey research design and used questionnaire as instrument for data collection. The sample size was 300. During data collection, 300 copies of questionnaire were administered with 288 returned and used for analysis. The findings showed that Big Brother Naija (Season VII) influences youth of Benue State by way of advancing and promoting sexual immorality, promoting the use of vulgar language and encouraging indecent dressing. It was recommended that producers of Big Brother Naija should adhere strictly to the principles of professional media scheduling, programming and content placement.
